How
You Can Help
The mission of Bridges to Common Ground is to encourage personal relationships that lead to greater understanding between people of different traditions. You can help further this mission in your own community and your own heart in several ways.
1
Become more informed on
the issues.
We have listed several outstanding references in our
Publications section and will continue to add new books,
articles and other materials as they become available.
Our Lectures section, which contains transcripts of
speeches from respected scholars speaking on the topic
of reconciliation, is also a wonderful resource.
2
Spread the word of
reconciliation in your own community.
It's easier than you think.
Begin a discussion group, inviting people of different
religious traditions. In the near future, our Tools
section will include discussion guides to help you
initiate conversations in these settings. In the
meantime, you may choose to read a passage from one
of the books or lectures noted above. Or each member
of the group can write an "assumption" they have
about a different religion. Open an assumption at
a time, allowing discussion to form around whether
it is valid or not. Pretty soon the group will realize
that we are not as different as we may assume.
If you belong to a book club, suggest that it use one of the books from the Books section as its monthly selection.
If your place of worship holds regular discussion or youth groups, suggest they form the agenda for a meeting around the issues presented on this web site. Invite attendees to visit the site before the gathering, then discuss ways that you as a group can further the work of reconciliation in your own community.

Stay informed. Ignorance
is the weapon of terrorists. They use our ignorance
to raise our sense of fear and insecurity. Knowledge
is the best weapon to defeat them. This
web site will be updated regularly with news, tools
and information about reconciliation and the campaign
to unite Americans against terrorist. The easiest
way to become aware of new content on the site,
as well as timely updates on events, is to subscribe
to the Bridges to Common Ground newsletter. You
may unsubscribe at any time.
